“EAP enhances positive behaviours, reduces negative behaviours and has helped people with mental-health problems. The studies found indicate that EAP can be as effective as other therapies currently in use and could be an alternative to talking and existing experimental and creative therapies.”
Living with mental-health issues affects every aspect of a person’s life; it can leave them feeling as if they face an insurmountable mountain.
Mental health and EAP
Equine-assisted psychotherapy (EAP) is a safe, gentle and increasingly popular alternative to traditional therapies for a range of issues including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, mood disorders, addictive behaviours, communication difficulties and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Discover how EAP works.
Our EAP programme
Some traditional therapy situations can last for years, with diminishing results, whereas our therapy is offered in short blocks of 6 to 8 one-hour sessions. And where counselling or another therapy appears to have stalled, supplementing it with equine-assisted psychotherapy sessions can help reinvigorate the process and provide new direction.
The benefits for the individual
EAP can help individuals to:
feel more in control
build up trust, boost self-esteem and confidence
enhance objectivity & compassion
develop communication skills
improve coping techniques
recognise unhelpful behaviours in themselves.
